I am a full-time visual artist, author, and playwright whose work blends curiosity, storytelling, and a love for everyday beauty. As a child, I filled sketchbooks with girls in flowing dresses and dogs disguised as humans. Over the years, my paintings and designs have reached audiences worldwide, appearing in retailers such as Target, Pier One, and World Market, as well as on television and in major motion pictures includingĀ Transparent,Ā Medium,Ā Glee, andĀ Twenty-One Jump Street.
For the past six years, Iāve been immersed in my daily painting practice, creating one small gouache painting every day. This discipline has sharpened my style and inspired me to share my passion for gouache through books, workshops, and online courses. I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Painting and Drawing, and I now live and work in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I continue to paint, teach, and daydream daily.

Hi people, Iām Peter!
Also present on socials as @pietmaen. Iāve been sketching since I could hold a pencil, and creativity has always been my playground -Ā from singing and acting to doodling characters everywhere. I studied math and art (yep, both!) and later earned a degree in Visual Communication in Berlin, where I learned how to mix structure with imagination.
Along the way Iāve worked with Disney, turned my drawings into collectible trading cards, and taught a German-language Skillshare course on Procreate and iPad drawing.
My art is playful, observant, and all about people. I love capturing expressions, gestures, and tiny quirks - the little things that make characters feel alive and full of emotion. If you see one of my portraits, I hope it makes you smile and imagine the story behind the face.
